WELCOME to Funhouse Theatre, the UK’s educational theatre specialists.

About Us

We are a professional touring theatre in education company who have performed to over 10,000 schools throughout the UK since 2003.

Our shows are not only fun and entertaining they are educational and historical. Our shows explore subjects such as bullying, stranger danger, the Victorians, World War II and the Tudors. We also offer outstanding musical Pantomimes which are suitable not only for Christmas but throughout the year.

All our shows are original musicals with songs written specifically for them to further both the story and the children’s learning. We have full spectacular sets and elaborate costumes as well as magical puppetry in all our shows.

At Funhouse Theatre we employ only professional actors for all our tours that enjoy performing our shows in schools as much as the schools enjoy watching them. Our actors believe in the importance of theatre in education and the rewards of encouraging and developing the young through visual and interactive means. That’s why actors return to work for us tour after tour and we are invited back to schools time and time again.

Funhouse Theatre guarantees to create a full theatre experience in your school at an affordable price.

Our Philosophy

Our aim is to make theatre accessible to schools of all sizes and children of all ages. Not only do we offer value for money with our shows we offer a life changing experience through live theatre.

Education and learning is the core of all our shows not only do we want the children to go away mesmerised by what they have seen we want to provoke questions for discussion in the classroom.

"Pack Up Your Troubles"

A nostalgic return to war time Britain from a child's perspective.

Following the Appleton family in a nostalgic return to war time Britain. A warm, entertaining piece of theatre which allows children to understand and relate to life during the Second World War. Through the use of original songs, puppet sequences and live action the story takes a light hearted look at family relations and community spirit - without trivialising the seriousness of the war situation - making this show both exciting and educational.

Join Jayne and her brother George as their adventures begin at the outbreak of World War Two. The children not fully aware of the dangers are excited by the prospect of building dens - 'bomb shelters' - and pretending to be monsters in their gas masks. For their parents the war is a far more worrying prospect. Their father Thomas is sent to fight, and their mother Milly forced to evacuate her children to the countryside. An upsetting thought for parents, but to Jayne & George it's the next phase of their adventure, as they leave the city to discover a whole new world.

Only as the years pass, and rationing and air raids become boring, do the children long for the life they once had. The journey take us through their changing emotions to the end of the war, and the final exciting stage in their adventure as they return home to see their parents.

Suitable for ages 5 - 11.
